GRM
Mt. Emmons Mining Company(MEMO)has completed activities of the Subject bonds
and NOIs at the Keystone Mine in Gunnison County, Colorado and requests timely
release of the performance bonds associated with this work. See Figure 1 for locations.
P-2008-052: Work completed includes the removal and demolition of the weather
station. No further work remains to fulfill the obligations of this $1,500 bond.
P-2007-026: Work completed to fulfill bond requirements included upgrading the 2000
Level Portal, closing the raise between the 2160 and 2000 level adits, and upgrading the
access door on the 1370 Portal. No further work remains to fulfill the obligations of this
$81,349 bond. Specifically, the work completed includes:
• Ore Raise: An access route was created along the existing access road to the area.
A bottom platform was fabricated from 1/4"plywood approximately 30 feet
below ground surface. A urea silicate,two-part foam was proportioned at 1:1
and placed as base material, accounting for approximately 10-12 feet of material
within the raise. An additional four cubic yards of Foam Concepts material was
placed on the cured urea silicate foam, which accounted for an additional four
feet of foam backfill within the raise. Placed atop the foam was 1-1/2"minus
road-base and native material from the 2000 level excavation. The area was
graded and bermed. See Figure 2.
• 2000 Level Portal: The existing wooden portal structure was removed to the
timber framing in the adit. An 11-foot diameter coated steel culvert was
installed. Placed around the culvert was compacted 1-1/2"minus backfill and
native material. Existing 4"HDPE piping was buried from within the portal to a
point beyond the graded area to facilitate access and snow removal. A fabricated
steel mesh gate and door was installed to control access. See Figure 3.
