land affected by the installation of the pumping station is approximately
11,151 square feet, or 0.256 acres. Water will be pumped 4,699 feet up
Akins Gulch in a high-strength two (2) inch diameter, High Density
Polyethylene (HDPE) pipeline that has a one-half (1/2) inch wall thickness.
The HDPE pipe will be connected with heat-fusion welding in the field.
Four check valves and an anti-siphon valve will be installed in the water
pipeline. The Gold Hill Mill Pipeline will be placed on the ground on the
East side of an existing historic mine access road for a distance of
approximately 3,250 feet. The Gold Hill Mill Pipeline will follow this road
until it reaches a point beneath the Gold Ring Mine dump. From this point,
the Gold Hill Mill Pipeline extends approximately 1,450 feet up the hillside
before it reaches an elevation of 8,360 feet, where it will enter the Times
Mine's adit. Except for two short intervals, the pipeline will not be buried,
and its assembly and operation will not disturb the land surface.
The Gold Hill Mill Pipeline crosses property retained for this purpose in a
deeded Easement over the land surface. CIVIC is using a five (5) foot area
of surface disturbance to install the two (2) inch pipeline along the length
of the deeded Easement. The total amount of land that will be affected by
the installation of the pipeline on the Gold Hill Mill Pipeline Easement is
23,495 square feet, or 0.539 acres. At a location 45 feet below the North
side of County Road No. 52, the Gold Hill Mill Pipeline will enter the portal
of the Times Mine's adit, which passes beneath the County Road. The
Times Mine adit is located on the patented Comet Lode, MS 318, which is
owned by CIVIC. The Times Mine portal consists of a five (5) foot diameter
galvanized steel culvert with a locking metal gate to prevent unauthorized
access. Assuming that an area 10 x 10 feet will be utilized during the
periods when the Times Mine is being entered to monitor water pumping,
the total amount of land surface affected by the use of this portal site is
100 square feet, or 0.002 acres. Including the Left Hand Creek pump
station, the Gold Hill Mill Pipeline, and the Times Mine portal site, the total
amount of land affected by the installation and operation of the Gold Hill
Mill Waterline amounts to 0.797 acres of surface land.
4
