RecE,vE®
DEC 182017
Dec. 9, 2017 01VISIO1V_r a
Ms.Amy Eschberger bfI NIN'h`iOSAFET y
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
313 Sherman St., Rm 215
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Ms. Eschberger,
As a property owner in the SW Hwy 115 area, object t the application (permit M2017-049)
for Transit Mix to conduct quarry operation in my eighborhood. I live in the area called Red
Rock Valley Estates, which is just north to the proposed quarry site. I've been a resident there
for 24 years and I have a hard time believing a company as large as TM would stoop so low in
upsetting a country side neighborhood with so many homes nearby.
Their application jeopardizes the water resources in my neighborhoods If I can't get water then
my property value will significantly drop. I don't know of anyone who would want that for the
home they spent so much money, time, and effort working for.
Their intent causes so many concerns for the neighbors here. The application violates
easement rights of property owners along Little Turkey Creek Road, where my sister and
brother in-law bought their home and land for horses. The quarry would also interrupt the
natural wildlife habitat, which would be a crying shame to this vast beautiful mountain area,
which is so close to the city.
The increased traffic on 115 alone would be of greater harm to the wildlife crossing the road.
Already I see at least two dead animals on a weekly basis along the highway. There was a
deadly motorcycle accident near my home due to the dirt on the highway and the curves.
More trucks will just create more rock on the highway.
I am also upset over the noise this will create. The blasting, the truck traffic noise, and the
potential for flying loose rock when blasting does occur.TM's plans were downsized; however,
it would be easy for them to gain approval later to expand.
I request the pre-hearing conference and MLRB bearing to be conducted in Colorado Springs.
Sincerely,
Tamara S. McCullough
11815 Calle Corvo; Colorado Springs, CO 80926
719-360-1704, McCuilough.Tamara@ymail.com
