PERMIT #: M-2012-024
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: SJM
INSPECTION DATE: November 1, 2017
OBSERVATIONS
This monitoring inspection was conducted by the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division). Troy
Wells, representing the Operator, was present during the inspection. Photographs taken at the site during
this inspection are included at the end of this report.
The Warren Gravel Pit is located approximately 3 miles east of Delta, and will be accessed from CR 1800.
There was not a permit identification sign posted at the site. This is noted as a problem at the beginning of
this report.
The current site use is cropland, and the post mining land use is approved as recreation. The permit area will
include 40.44 acres, of which 38.64 acres are expected to be mined. The area of the pond is expected to be 30
acres in size. There is currently no mining taking place and topsoil stockpiling has started. About 18" of topsoil
has been stripped and there is also about 3' of a clay overburden that has been removed. The unmined
acreage will serve as buffer zones and topsoil/overburden stockpile areas. It is expected that sufficient
quantities of overburden material will be available on site for completing reclamation, and that enough topsoil
will be salvaged in order to be distributed over the disturbed areas during reclamation at a depth of no less
than eight inches.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Stephanie Mitchell at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining & Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, CO 81501, phone
number 970.242.5025.
