PERMIT #: M-1997-027
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: SJM
INSPECTION DATE: November 1, 2017
OBSERVATIONS
This was a normal monitoring inspection of the Moonscape Pit; DRMS file# M-1997-027. This site is located
about 4 miles north west of Delta, Colorado in Delta County. I, Stephanie Mitchell of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation Mining and Safety conducted the inspection. Mr. Chauncey Luttrell of Gray Rock Aggregate
Company, LLC accompanied me on the inspection.
This site is permitted for 21.65 acres with about 4 acres currently disturbed. The Division holds a $32,183.00
bond for the site and is adequate at this time.
Adequate mine identification signage was noted at the entrance off of Sundown Road and is in accordance
with Rule 3.1.12(1).
The permit area is delineated by boundary marker posts and fencing. Material stockpiles and
topsoil/overburden stockpiles appear to be stable. Mining is currently taking place in the middle of the permit
area and moving in a southeasterly direction. The highwall is estimated at 12 feet deep. 3 acres have been
recently graded for final graded for reclamation in the western portion of the permit area. No fuel is being
stored at the mine site. A crusher, Loader and 325 B Cat Excavator were on site.
There were little or no weeds on site.
Overall, no problems were noted on this site. The operation appears to be in compliance with the approved
mining plan.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Stephanie Mitchell at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd Street, Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado, 81501,
phone # 970.242.5025.
