RECEIVED <br /> Date: 12/7/2017 DEC ' 2417 <br /> DN/S/o,,i , <br /> M NI <br /> To Whom It May Concern: l NOANO S �r�N <br /> I write in support of Transit Mix's application to open a quarry on the privately owned Hitch <br /> Rack Ranch in southwestern El Paso County. <br /> Transit Mix Concrete Company has long been an integral part of the El Paso County community <br /> and economy. It provided much of the concrete that built the Air Force Academy, Fort Carson, <br /> NORAD, and other iconic structures. With a positive track record stretching back more than <br /> seven decades, Transit Mix has earned the trust of its Colorado Springs neighbors. <br /> It's critically important that Transit Mix have a quarry in El Paso County. That's because Transit <br /> Mix supplies approximately 25% of the aggregate and 40% of the concrete purchased in <br /> Colorado Springs, and without a company quarry to produce aggregate, concrete prices on both <br /> private and public markets would spike significantly. At a time when home prices are already <br /> rising rapidly and infrastructure in Colorado is strained, a spike in concrete prices is the last thing <br /> the people of El Paso County need. <br /> Transit Mix has found in Hitch Rack Ranch the ideal location for its critically important quarry. <br /> With only 13 residences within one mile of its proposed permit boundary, Hitch Rack Ranch is <br /> more secluded than any other viable quarry site in range of the Colorado Springs market.
