Page 1 13
Key: SE=state endangered, ST=state threatened; Source: CPW 2016
4.4 State of Colorado Noxious Weeds
No noxious weeds were observed within the proposed monitoring well sites.
5. SUMMARY
Ecosphere completed pedestrian surveys of the proposed project areas. Based on the field surveys,
there were no potential for USFWS listed species to occur at any of the proposed well sites. There is no
potential habitat for any State of Colorado threatened or endangered wildlife species in the project
areas. There is potential habitat present in the project area for six BLM/TRFO sensitive species. None of
the species were observed during the field surveys
The project areas contain potential foraging habitat for four bat species listed as sensitive by the
BLM/TRFO, Townsend's big -eared bat, spotted bat, Allen's (Mexican) big -eared bat and fringed myotis.
No roosting habitat was observed within the project areas. In addition, drilling activities would occur
during the day, precluding impacts to bat species.
Potential habitat exists in the project areas for two bird species listed as sensitive by the BLM/TRFO.
Potential foraging habitat exists in the project areas for golden eagle. No suitable nesting habitat for
golden eagle was observed in the project areas. Golden eagle could incidentally occur in the area and
impacts would be limited to temporary avoidance. Potential nesting habitat for Brewer's sparrow exists
in the MW -3 and MW -4 sites. No nests were observed within the project areas. A few sagebrush plants
may be removed at these sites, which would be unlikely to affect Brewer's sparrow. No other sagebrush
habitat would be removed or modified by the proposed project.
776 E. 2nd Avenue • Durango, CO 81301 • Phone: (970) 382-7256 • Fax: (970) 382-7259
www.ecosphere-services.com
Potential to Occur
Species
Status
Habitat
in the Project Area
over gravel and/or cobble, also in
backwaters and pools below riffles; this
species rarely in waters with heavy silt
and organic matter.
