Ms. Amy Eschberger
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Ms. Eschberger,
30 November 2017
RECEIVED
DEC 072017
DMSION OF RECLAMATION
MINING AND SAFE1y
I lived my first twenty-five years at Star Ranch, off Highway 115. Maintaining the
natural beauty and health of that area has been a passion of mine, and I was thrilled to see
The Cheyenne Mountain State Park designated immediately south of our old Ranch.
I am strongly Rg22sed to the Transit Mix Concrete Company's pplication to establish a
quarry on Ditch Rack Ranch. Their application (M2017-04 not only jeopardizes water
quality, but also fails to protect critical wildlife habitat, and, in my understanding, may be
in serious violation of property owners' easements on Little Turkey Creek Road. This
application should be denied for the sake of the long term health of the land.
I also think that it is only fair that prehearings and hearings on this be held in Colorado
Springs, where the damage will occur if it is passed.
We have had enough extraction from the Southern Front Range as it is. Too many scars
on the mountains. This is not a worthy proposition.
Yours truly,
Sam Johnson
1520 W. Kiowa Street
Colorado Springs, CO 80904
719-244-8233
johnsonsamuelarfliur@gmail.com
