I live along the highway 115 corridor near the proposed site of the
Hitch Rack Ranch Quarry. This is a letter of ob'ection o the application M2017-049 based on
the adverse effect the quant' will have on both the environment and quality of life. I chose to
live in this area for the serenity and beauty of the area. At that time, I was aware of the trade off
living near the existing quarry, which creates noise, dust, and dangerous traffic on 115. When I
hike into the local BML using the road shared with the existing quant', I am deeply disturbed by
the overwhelming glut of trash and debris that pollutes the canyon entry way and Turkey Creek.
It is upsetting to think about yet another quarry that will add ongoing destruction to the delicate
ecosystem of the area, especially to our water and wildlife habitats. The new quarry is a money
making endeavor at the expense of our environment and local community. Colorado is a sate
famous for it's pristine outdoor beauty. If we continue to sacrifice our uniqueness for the
almighty dollar, our state will become another eastern Kentucky/West Virginia, states raped by
the mining industries who had no stake in our environment.
Please vote NO to the Hitch Rack Ranch Quarry.
Sincerely,
Anita J.`ickels
