EXHIBIT "A"
SUMMARY OF 2017 ACTIVITIES
Approximately 3 acres of previously reclaimed active pit highwall and waste
dumps were backfilled in order to reduce the overall slope to 3:1 (H:V) and promote
better re-vegetation. The area will be graded, slash spread on the slope, and hydroseed
applied next spring.
A ridge of good Gypsum on the west side of the active pit was prepped for
recovery in 2017 and should be down to active pit level in the next few months. The
west ridge is within the permitted disturbance area and was previously abandoned over
quality concerns. Removal of the west ridge is critical to maximize gypsum recovery and
provide access to additional reserves identified further east. Submittal of an amendment
to expand the operation further east is anticipated for 2018.
In response to a violation issued by Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment (CDPHE) a project to realign the main haulroad and upgrade sediment
control near the main gate began in May. The realigned road is nearly complete,
temporary sediment control and stabilization is in place for winter, and final sediment
control and grading will be completed sometime early next spring.
Haul roads were treated exclusively with mag-chloride for dust control in 2017.
A street sweeping contractor is currently being used to help with pavement tracking
throughout the year.
Technical Revision 10 was approved for continued development and reclamation
of the lower pit. The updated reclamation bond will be posted in the next few weeks with
development and production commencing as weather allows. An additional 100 vertical
feet of Gypsum will be recovered, within the existing disturbance footprint, and the
original highwall backfilled and reclaimed to a 3:1 (H:V) slope.
Approximately 450,000 tons of gypsum rock were shipped from the mine during
2017.
t
