RECEIVED
COLORADO MILLING COMPANY, LLC NOV 2 0 2017
WEED CONTROL PLAN
Di1/1Si0N OF RECLAMATION,
I. Introduction MINING AND SAFETY
The existing land uses are forestry and mineral processing. The permitted property consists of
patented and unpatented mining claims. All of the patented and unpatented claims are owned by
the Colorado Milling Company, LLC (CMC). The other land in this area belongs to the U.S.
Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
II. State -listed Noxious Weeds
There are several state -listed noxious weeds present onsite, including knapweed, Canada thistle,
Common mullein, and Downy brome (cheat grass).
lI. Weed Control Plan
CMC will perform a noxious weed site survey by the end of June each year. This annual site
survey will be conducted until the site is released from reclamation liability by the Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (DRMS). Any infestations of noxious weeds that are identified
in this survey will be noted on the site map. A list of the weeds identified, the weeds sprayed,
chemicals used, application rates, dates chemicals were applied, and the dates when the noxious
weeds were effectively controlled will be filed with the DRMS prior to the end of each year.
CMC will utilize the following mechanical and chemical methods to control noxious weeds:
Field Trimming
Prior to noxious weeds reaching full maturity (producing flowers/going to seed), the weeds
will be mechanically mowed to a height of 2 to 4 inches. This trimming will be performed
during the growing season in the late spring and late summer. Additional field mowing will
be performed as necessary.
Chemical Control
One initial application of an appropriate selective herbicide shall be applied, per
manufacturer's recommendations. Applications shall be done during the growth stage and
when temperatures and other conditions are appropriate to achieve the most effective weed
control. Follow-up applications will be done as needed.
A list of the noxious weeds targeted for control within the State of Colorado that have been
identified in this area is shown below:
Common Name
Scientific Name
Canada thistle
Cirsium arvenae
Common mullein
Verbasewn thapsus
Downy brome
Bromus tectonrm
Spotted/Diffuse knapweed
Centaurea marulosa
