2 017 Red Rock Pit Weed Spraying Report <br /> Peabody Energy's red Rock pit sits about 8 miles south of Hayden, Colorado off county road 53. <br /> It is about 25 acres of disturbed land and about 10 acres of reclaimed and seeded property. This <br /> area was treated for weeds over a two day period. It has a variety of weeds that are being <br /> maintained, including Thistle, houndstongue, whitetop, common mullen, toad flax, and black <br /> hen bane. The weather was clear and calm. Temperature ranged from 40 in the am to 70 by <br /> lunch. June 27th and the 28th were the days the spraying took place. It was a spot spraying that <br /> was applied by back pack and off a Polaris ranger. 125 gallons were applied to the total area....5 <br /> oz. Of metcel...5 oz. Of milestone...21 oz. Of activator 90....and 42 oz. Of gly star plus........This <br /> area seems to be improving each year. A fall spraying was scheduled for the Thistle, but <br /> because of the very dry conditions it was cancelled. <br />
