Summit Brick and Tile Company Fox No 1 Clay Pit
M-1977-219-Adequacy Response#1 November 13, 2017
V, I 'm not sure what the EPA has to do with this . Summit Brick
and Tile Company has an approved blasting plan on file with the
Division that was prepared in 2002 and is still in use and valid
for this operation. Summit contracts for drilling and blast with
Buckley Powder Company who' s blasting credentials are up to date .
The report the Objectors provided from the EPA does not indicate
there were violations at the mine and the area they highlighted
shows there were no violations or historic violations as of the
9/9/17 date on the information request .
GENERAL - Maps
4. Several maps (C, C-1, E-1, F, and J-1) submitted in AM-03 do not show the correct name
of the Applicant in accordance with Rule 6.2.1(2)(a). These maps also identify a 200 foot
limit line which appears to not be 200 feet from the permit boundary located in the
southwest portion of the site (between the property of Ricky & Bessie Langdon and the
Dorothy Youngren Trust). Please revise these maps to show Summit Brick & Tile Co. as
the Applicant and correct the 200 foot limit line.
This has been corrected on all maps noted
5. The E-1 and J-1 maps do not meet the scale requirements of Rule 6.2.1(2)(e). Please
revise these maps to appropriate scale. Note, the acceptable range of map scales shall not
be larger than between 1 inch= 50 feet nor smaller than 1 inch= 660 feet.
This has been corrected by changing the title of the color
rendition of the Reclamation Plan Map to Figure E . Attached is a
copy of Figure E to replace the improperly sized map . I also
combined the Soils Map and Map Exhibit J1 -Vegetation Map on to
one map plat called Map Exhibit C-2- Soils and Vegetation Maps
that are now scaled 1 ' =660 feet . The color versions supplied in
the original report are for reference only and have been re-
labeled as Figures I-1 and J-1 . Copies of the re-named maps are
attached.
6. The C, C-1, and F maps contain a spelling error where the Dorothy Youngren Trust lands
are identified. Please revise these maps by correcting the typo.
This has been corrected on all maps noted.
4
