JOHN ERICH RAUBER, P.E.,G.E.
6486 TIMBER SPRINGS DRIVE
SANTA ROSA,CALIFORNIA 95409
November 10, 2017
May Day Idaho Mine Complex
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Conclusions regarding Off-Site Impacts
May Day Idaho Mine Complex
La Plata County, Colorado
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter presents our conclusions regarding impacts to potential off-site stability impacts in
connection with the existing access road at the May Day Idaho Mine Complex in La Plata,
County, Colorado (the Mine Site). We previously prepared a report entitled, "Rule 6.5
Geotechnical Stability Report, New Access Road, April 2, 2012" for the Mine site. This report is
attached. As part of our geotechnical evaluations, we performed slope stability analyses to
evaluate the stability of the access road. On the basis of our evaluations, we conclude that-there
are no areas adjacent to the permit area where potential off-site stability impacts to significant
man-made structures could occur.
As presented in the report, no disturbance after a catastrophic event would impact significant
structures within 200 feet of the property lines. At these locations, as shown on the project
geologic map (Figures U-3 and U-4), there are no geologic structures or earthen facilities that
have the potential impact offsite locations. The New Access Road ranges from five to 50 feet
from the nearest adjacent parcel. Geotechnical evaluations described in the report suggest that
the current and final cut slopes are stable. Even if the slopes failed, the calculated shape of the
failure zone would still be over 40—45 feet from the nearest private property boundary.
Thus the stability of any structures located within two hundred (200) feet of the mining operation
or affected land in the vicinity of the section of the mine access road addressed in the
geotechnical report will not be damaged by activities occurring at the mining operation. This
includes the structures on a list provided by Sunrise Mining LLC and attached to this letter.
If you have any questions, please contact the undersigned at (707) 496-4503.
Sincerely, pPDUF
U4.• R1GH•9•;sFO
's° 26647 11
John Erich Rauber, P.E. '; ;\' cq
Professional Engineer 266 p'<'c'••..••,..••\
sSlON M_
Attachments
