61
CO DRMS 0ECE1vLZD
Attn: Jared Ebert
Re: Permit Number M-207-036 Site Name: Knox Pit "V 4 2011
1313 Sherman Street - Room #215 DN1S101y0F
Denver, CO 80203 MINING pN ECLARA 10N
sApEry
Mr. Ebert,
I'm writing to ask that you oppose the proposal set out by Knox Pit for their industrial
developments in the town of Laporte. As a resident of Laporte, I can see no benefit and and a
lot of harm that will come from the approval of and subsequent implementation of this
proposal. I oppose the mining and reclamation aspects of the plan under DRMS jurisdiction,
such as natural resource impacts, ground water and flood plain impacts and harm to
agricultural, wildlife/conservation and recreation values.
The quality of life in Laporte is already suffering from increased traffic due to development and
the construction on Hwy 287. Long term residents of this community are seeing their quiet,
agriculturally oriented lives uprooted as a result of these issues. There is no room here for
industry. Allowing 318 trucks per day to come through Laporte will impact everyone in this
community via noise, traffic snarls, increased air pollution and declining personal safety. To say
nothing about the impact on wildlife and property values. The presence of these industrial sites
will only bring distress, noise, pollution, turmoil, and congestion to our town.
I seriously can't see a single up side for Laporte and its citizens, if these proposals are approved
and enacted. There is certainly no environmental upside, no economic upside, no safety
upside, no personal health upside, so what does this community get in return for putting up
with all the downsides? Nothing. Nothing but the downsides.
I urge the CO DRMS to make the only decision that won't destroy our community. To reject
the above named proposal and leave Laporte and its citizens alone.
Thank you for your time and for reading my comments.
Sincerely,
Pamela May
Overland Trail
Laporte, CO
