November 7, 2017
CO DRMS
Attn: ,fared Ebert
1313 Sherman Street Rm#215
Denver, CO 80203
RECEIVE®
NOY 13 2017
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
MINING AND SAFETY
Please consider my concerns over the Laporte Gravel Pit application as it pertains to me personally and
to the community in general.
About a year ago my wife and I purchased land in the Withrowridge subdivision for my wife and I to
build our dream home using our life savings. The main reason we choose this land was the view
would we get to the East of our property looking over Overland Rd to the East. The horses that were
grazing and the cattle that sat behind them to the East in the valley was peaceful and beautiful. Now
after we have starting building we find out that this is all in jeopardy and being taken away from us and
replaced with dust, noise, and truck traffic. Even worse than my wife and I having to endure this while
we live there, I fear that we will loose value in our neighborhood, since how could it not when you
replace tranquility with dusty trucks and noise right out our front door. I also recently drove down
HWY 287 starting from Fort collins and thru this area and it is a beautiful valley view as you head
North. To imagine this as a gravel pit is very sad for the community.
I would like to add that although you might not get a letter from everyone in the community like this, I
do talk to many in the community and I have only come across a few that don't oppose this for our
community, while dozens of folks strongly oppose.
If we need to do something else with this land, why not a dog park, or Natural area, a community park,
a YMCA, something more geared towards improving our community and spurring better and more
headhy business growth other than a dusty, ugly business that will only benefit a small amount of
people with a few new jobs?
To summarize, my wife and I oppose the gravel pit application in general, and even more strongly
oppose the request to allow access to the plant on Overland Trail Rd, right across the street from us.
Thanks in advance for considering my opinions and concerns. Please, please, do not approve this.
Robert and Karen Pierdzioch, owners of new home being built on Old Carbon Court, 3651, lot 12
