Please find the PLS response in bold following the
original information request items.
Item 1- Please provide an inventory of all mining -related structures on site such as processing facilities,
shops, warehouses, mine offices and/or trailers, fuel storage tanks/facilities, etc.
PLS Response: Please note, there are structures near the Rex Quarry which are mining related,
however these are not exclusive to the Rex Quarry Permit No. M-1977-304. The structures are
independent of the Rex Quarry (Mine Permit No. M-1977-304) and are planned to be necessary post
mining. There is a processing plant, office, maintenance shop complex, and crushing plant to the
west of the Rex Quarry. These structures were excluded from Mine Permit No. M-1977-304 and are
required to process material from nearby quarries, which include the Owl Canyon Quarry M-1977-
302, Roberts Quarry M-1977-301, Munroe M-1977-002, and other more remote locations and are
independent of the Rex Quarry. The portion of lands where these structures are located are leased
separately from the Rex Quarry mining operations with the Colorado State Board of Land
Commissioners for the purpose of operating and maintaining an office, shop complex, limestone
crushing plant, as well as storage and shipping related to the production of crushed limestone.
Tracts A, B, and C on the approved Mine Plan map show the locations of the above described
structures. As such, reclamation of these structures was not included in the Rex Quarry Mine and
Reclamation Plans as they are not uniquely associated with the Rex Quarry mining operation.
Item 2 -- if PLS would like to leave any structures or facilities on-site after reclamation to support the
post -mine land use, a technical revision to the reclamation plan will need to be submitted with the
'r required fee to the Division. This revision must identify which structures would remain along with
justification why the structure would be necessary to support the approved post mine land use, The
