LIST C <br /> r'ield bindweed - Convolvulus arvensis <br /> A deeply rooted perennial that reproduces through seeds and rhizomes. <br /> Taproots can extend up to 20 feet deep into the soil and seeds can remain <br /> viable for up to 40 years. Commonly found throughout Colorado in culti- <br /> vated areas, pastures, roadsides, waste areas, lawns, and gardens from <br /> 4,000 to 8,000 feet in elevation. <br /> Identification: <br /> • Flowers: White to light pink, trumpet or bell-shaped. <br /> • Leaves: Arrowhead shape. <br /> • Stems: Prostrate, twining, up to 6 feet long. <br /> ontrol Methods: <br /> Biological: <br /> The Bindweed Gall Mite, Aceria mahlerbae, is available for control and <br /> has been found to be successful. <br /> Mechanical: <br /> Cutting, mowing, and pulling have negligible effects unless plants are cut <br /> below the soil surface in the early seedling stage. <br /> Chemical: <br /> Dicamba + 2,4-D: Apply just after full bloom and/or in fall. <br /> *Picloram: Apply just after full bloom and/or in fall. <br /> **Glyphosate: Apply when plants are in full bloom and/or in fall. <br /> * Restricted-use chemical <br /> ** Non-selective chemical, will kill all vegetation it contacts <br /> 60 <br />
