ao' o Transit Mix Concrete Co.
compatible with the surrounding terrain and revegetated with species and was designed to
encourage wildlife habitat.
The landform will be modified by widening the valley south of Little Turkey Creek which will
actually increase the migration corridor for wildlife and provide a road for crossing any highwall.
The resulting slopes, vegetation community, biodiversity and habitat will be reclaimed to exceed
or equal the habitat that currently surrounding the Quarry site. The final, reclaimed property will
provide protected habitat for wildlife, particularly elk and wild turkey. Much of the pit will be
backfilled with fines material to eliminate highwalls and create slopes accessible by wildlife. The
revegetation plans include areas of trees, shrubs, and grassland, depending on slope gradation,
aspect, and elevation, and these variations in vegetation will provide wildlife habitat enhanced
beyond the current conditions. The portions of the Quarry reclaimed during the early phases of
development will have reached maturity prior to the closure of the proposed operation. Just as
the Quarry will advance in phases, the reclaimed environments will be of various stages of
maturity, thereby encouraging various settings for diverse wildlife.
Due Diligence, Design, Permitting
During the evaluation, planning and design processes, Transit Mix has conducted extensive due
diligence to fully identify and address potential impacts that may arise from the proposed
development. The knowledge gained through these studies has been incorporated into the
design of the project to ensure that effective mitigations are included while preserving the
economic viability of the proposed operation.
Transit Mix will secure regulatory consents from numerous County, State and Federal agencies
before commencing development. The permitting process is comprehensive and rigorous. All
aspects of the proposed operation will be reviewed in detail by expert agency staff to ensure that
the operation and activity meets established standards and regulations. Upon approval, these
same agencies will closely monitor activity at the site to ensure that Transit Mix fully complies with
the submitted design and conditions established in the respective permits.
Transit Mix welcomes and encourages input and comment by neighbors and the general public
regarding the planned development. As described throughout this application, Transit Mix has
carefully addressed the concerns and comments raised during review of its initial 112 permit
application before the Board. Documents comprising the permit application and explanations of
the proposed operation are available to the public through the company website at
http://transitmix.com. These documents are also available at the County Clerk and Recorder's
Office and online at the Division's website.
During the evaluation of the proposed development and subsequent preparation of applications
for the numerous regulatory approvals, Transit Mix reviewed the following issues in detail.
Wildlife: A three-year long survey conducted in 2015, 2016, and 2017 confirmed that no
Mexican Spotted Owls are present on the proposed development site.
