(d) Surface and groundwater monitoring <br />The Operator commits to complying with applicable CDPHE and the Water <br />Quality Control Commission's applicable permits and surface and groundwater <br />baseline water monitoring requirements. <br />6.4.7(3) Projected Water Requirements <br />Water Rights: <br />The Operator has La Plata River water rights to consumptively use up to 12 acre feet <br />(ac/ft.) and to divert one cubic feet per second (cfs.)3 No water storage pond is being <br />considered. <br />Mining: The estimated project maximum "out of priority" water consumption <br />requirement for the mining operation is estimated to be less than a 1.5 ac/ft. per year. <br />(See Table G-1). <br />Fire Suppression: Fire suppression water storage bladders will be located at May Day <br />No. 1, May Day No. 2, Idaho and the Base of Operations. Bladders will be filled in <br />the spring of each year (when water right is in priority) and drained during the fall. <br />Reclamation: No site irrigation is planned. <br />Domestic Water: A La Plata River Sunrise approved alluvial production well will be <br />drilled to provide water to the base of operation for employees and visitors. <br />6.4.7(4) Projected Water Sources <br />The Operator has two existing water rights. The 1904 senior water right is owned by <br />Sunrise Mining, LLC (successor to Fairfield Land Company, (Case No. 80CW133) <br />(Table G-3) allocates groundwater at a consumptive use rate of 40 gallons per minute <br />(gpm) for the purposes of mining, milling and industrial activities associated with the <br />Mayday Mine. The second water right was filed on November 30, 2006 (Case No. <br />06CW91) (Table G-4) and authorizes the conditional use of 1 cfs (capped at 12 acre feet <br />per year) for mining, milling and industrial purposes. The source of water is the Idaho <br />Spring. The Idaho Spring discharges directly into the La Plata River. <br />Groundwater near the Idaho Mill and May Day No. 1, as approved by the Colorado <br />Division of Water Resources, will be used at a rate not to exceed 40 gpm.
