FUGRO CONSULTANTS, INC.
4_
39.13733, -108.31436
Palisade, CO
Figure 1: General Location Map
Fugro Consultants Inc., (FCL) performed the geophysical surveys for Huddleston -Berry Engineering & Testing
LLC. The field data were collected between April 6th and 9th, 2016 by Sr. Geophysicist Jim Pfeiffer and Sr. Staff
Geophysicist Lincoln Steele.
Data Acquisition
The objective of the geophysical investigation was to use electrical resistivity to map potential groundwater
pathways draining into the abandoned mine working of the Snowcap coal mine. FCL deployed the AGI R8
SuperSting resistivity system over seven North-South survey alignments on site. The R8 system is an 8 channel,
84 electrode systems capable of measuring a variety of resistivity arrays during each survey. The lines ranged in
length between 249 meters (full 84 electrode array) and 231 meters (78 electrode array), depending on
steepness of terrain and other physical obstructions (berms, piles, etc.). A composite resistivity survey including
both Dipole/Dipole and the Schlumberger method were used to best image the subsurface along each profile.
The survey lines were adjusted to best evaluate potential subsurface anomalies and pathways in the area of
concern, located near several known surface features from the mine. The first line collected was in a
background area located west of the mine workings to gather baseline information about the site. Figure 2
shows the survey area with each of the ERT profiles labelled, noted surface features, the buried water line and
the boundaries of the imaged ERT anomaly.
Project/Proposal No. 04.79160011 25 April, 2016
Page 2 of 6
TR -69 A14-14-7 09/16
