Roadside Mine
#00489-0004
05/09/16
Huddleston -Beers
w , 1-1.,a Lit
Subsequent to the grouting around the shaft, HBET recommends that grout holes be installed
near the surface sinkhole openings. In general, the pathways that lead from the surface openings
to the air shaft should be identifiable during the grout hole drilling and/or grouting operations as
voids associated with the pathways will cause loss/reduction of air flush return and should also
take more grout than the surrounding, undisturbed soils. Additional holes should be installed as
necessary to `map' the pathways and ensure that the pathways from the ground surface to the
shaft are sealed. The compaction grouting program will likely be more expensive than the
excavation approach; however, this method will result in minimal surface disturbance.
General
The conclusions and recommendations above are based upon our observations at the site,
available information, and upon our experience. The conclusions and recommendations are valid
only for the subject project.
We are pleased to be of service to your project.
