Demonstration that disturbed area sediment controls are no longer
necessary at Cameo Refuse Disposal Area Nos. 1 and 2 is presented in
Appendix 14-13. Ponds 6 and 10 were reclaimed, as shown on Exhibit
9C, after approval of PR -5.
The Operator has sold its surface land holdings west of the Colorado
River to the Town of Palisade. This includes the North Portal, CRDA-1,
CRDA-2, CBA -1, CBA -2 and Ponds 6, 10, 11 and 13. The Town of
Palisade, in conjunction with the Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife,
will be developing the land as a commercial, multi -use sport shooting
facility. It will formally be called the Cameo Sports Shooting and Outdoor
Education Complex.
With the approval of SL -8, there are 12.2 acres remaining of bonded land
west of the Colorado River. The post mining land use for 4.0 acres will be
changed from fish and wildlife to commercial. See Tab 15 for more details
on post mining land use.
South Fan
The South Fan area was reclaimed in 2000. Final contours for the South
Fan area are approximately the original contours shown on Exhibit SLA 6-
009, Tab 13. The borrow area shown on Exhibit SLA 6-009 was used to
backfill the shaft. The borrow area was graded to blend in with exiting
contours. After salvage operations, the remaining concrete shaft collar
and structural foundations were broken up and pushed into the shaft. The
shaft was backfilled to within approximately 5' feet of the surface and the
shaft sealed with a concrete plug approximately 5' thick. The fan bench
was backfilled with material filled on the outside edge of the bench and
with material from the two overburden stockpiles nearby. The most
suitable plant growth material was placed on the fill last and amended as
necessary to promote revegetation. The portion of Access Road 3 leading
into the fan site was eliminated by grading it to match the adjacent
topography. Silt fences are being utilized as alternative sediment control
and placed as shown on Exhibit SL -16-009.
PR -6 14-11 i (Rev. 10/16)
