September 20, 2017 C-1981-018/Deserado Mine JDM

Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1

GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE:

No permitting actions are on-going with the Division. Construction of the 13L return shaft was in progress at the
time of the inspection. The 13L Return Shaft was approved under TR-71. The site consisted of the return shaft
pad, a two cell mud pit and access road. Equipment on site included the drill rig, a back hoe tractor, two flatbed
trailers and trucks, and a small D-6 dozer. No issues were noted. The mud pits have near capacity and may
require additional excavation, as the drilling has not yet been completed.

PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES – Rule 4.10 and 4.11Drainage Control; Surface
Stabilization; Placement:

Refuse Pile - 2/3/4 refuse was stable and compacted at the time of the inspection with no material being stockpiled
at the time of the inspection. Grading allowed good run-off to ponds.
Refuse Pile - 5 was well compacted and stable at the time of the inspection. A number of stockpiled piles were in
place and have yet to be spread and compacted. Both sites showed good run-off to the ponds via the collection
ditches with no rills or gullies identified on the out slopes of the piles.
