Mail - COGSPIEL@msn.com Page 1 of 1
Placer Mining Prospecting-Park County
Deangelis - DNR, Corey <corey.deangelis@state.co.us>
Fri 9/15/2017 10:48 AM
To.cogspiel@msn.com <cogspiel@msn.com>;
Cc:Garver Brown <garver.brown@state.co.us>;Dean Santistevan <dean.santistevan@state.co.us>;
Charlie,
It was good visiting with you over the telephone this morning. As discussed, you have a permit through DRMS in Park
County near Fairplay, CO. It is my understanding that your permit requires that you either immediately backfill above any
groundwater you encounter during your prospecting excavations, or obtain a permit and subsititute water supply plan
(SWSP)through our office of Division of Water Resources.
Based upon your description of temporarily excavating trenches, pulling off a small sample from each excavation, and
quickly backfilling the excavated trench with the excavation material, I feel you will not need a SWSP or permit from our
office. This is based on the requirement that you backfill the trenches containing any exposed ground water in 72 hours or
Less upon first exposure.
I have copied our lead water commissioner district 23, Garver Brown and assistant Division Engineer Dean Santistevan on
this email as they are responsible for water administration in the area you describe near Fairplay, Colorado.
As discussed, please give Garver Brown a call before you begin your operations so he can inspect your operations and field
any calls he may receive regarding your operations.
Please email all of us if you have any questions.
Best regards,
C&V T 064veflk AF
Assistant Division Engineer I Water Division One
IE-2
810,th S'- e,, Su, A , oL, C'
Phone-(970) 352-8712, Ext.1204(Office) 1 (970)381-3158(Cell) I Fax: (970) 392-1816
corey.deangelis@state.co.us I http://www.water.state.co.us/
Please complete our new DWR User Experience Survey on our DWR Homepaoe to express your opinions of our
service.
