Randall, Executive Director | Virginia Brannon, Director 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 Denver, CO 80203 September 15, 2017 Colorado Parks and Wildlife 2300 South Townsend Ave Montrose, CO 81401 Re: New Horizon Mine (Permit No. C-1981-008) Technical Revision No. 81 (TR-81) Coal Storage Area, Haul Road and Air Pollution Control Permit Dear Sir or Madam: The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on September 15, 2017 an application to revise coal mining operations at the New Horizon Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Elk Ridge Mining and Reclamation, LLC. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. TR-81 is proposing to redesignate the 5th Street Light Use Road as the Lincoln Street Haul Road south of the facilities area, identifiy a coal storage area by the facilities area and update the APCD air permit. The applicant is not proposing additional surface disturbance outside of the area currently approved for disturbance. The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 1.7 miles Northwest of Nucla, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: 1.7 miles northwest of the Town of Nucla The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the following USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map(s): Nucla.
