Mike Peacock of Mountain Coal Company (MCC) accompanied the inspection. The weather was clear
and dry. The mine was active.

GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE:
At the time of the inspection the longwall was in panel E7, between cross cuts 55 and 56 on the headgate.
The longwall move to panel E7 went ahead as expected.
The continuous miners were working on the Sunset Mains.
The following permitting actions were in progress:
 RN-7, which was found complete on February 1, 2016. The decision due date has been extended to
September 30, 2017.
 MR-422, which was found complete on August 10, 2017. It was approved and issued on August 15.
 MR-423, which was found complete on August 28, 2017. It was approved and issued on August 28.

PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES – Rule 4.10 and 4.11
Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization; Placement:
Following the recent longwall move the prep plant had been in use to wash coal from the east end of panel
7, and had been generating refuse. The new refuse had partially filled the depression left on the working surface of
the RPEE. It is not likely that sufficient refuse will be generated to construct the swale at the entrance to the RPEE
this year, so that construction will probably be postponed until 2018.

SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04:
Mine Ventilation Boreholes E7-10 and E7-11 were inspected. The drill rig was in action on E7-10. The
pad at E7-11 had been constructed, and the earth moving equipment was being transported from there to the
proposed site of the exploration holes to the south. Pad E7-12 had not yet been constructed.
