5. Native Vegetation
Trees—Ponderosa Pine, Douglas Fir, Quaking Aspen.
Grasses—Arizona Fescue, Blue Gramma, Bottlebrush Squirreltail, Prairie Junegrass, Mountain
Muhly.
Shrubs—Wax Currant, Mountain Mahogany.
7. Depth of Ground Water
I the soil mapped Aquolls(Map Unit Symbol 2),the depth to ground water could be as little as
30 cm in some places. This is most likely a perched water table, and not the true aquifer level below.
This information was obtained from Web Soil Survey. There are many domestic water wells directly
south of these mining claims. Most of them show a static water level between 60 and 120 feet, with a
few being as shallow as 30'or as deep as 180'. This data was obtained from the Water Sage website,
which has information for most of the wells drilled in Colorado.
11. After viewing the mine location on Amazonite 8,the land above the dig site is crowned to the North
and South, preventing water runoff from uphill from flowing across the dig location. This is a natural
landform, the dig location is located very near the ridge of the hill, placing it in a location away from
runoff from the hill above.
12. Ponderosa Pine trees are recommended for planting. They should be approximately 12"to 24"tall
at the time of transplanting.
Christopher Smith
USDA—NRCS
June 6, 2017
