Vegetation information
There is little or no native vegetation left on the mine so the
attached vegetation report does not represent an accurate de-
scription for the site specific conditions . We have added
information from on site observations and will use the seeding
recommendations prepared in 1977 for the original permit . There
is little beneficial vegetation on the mine area and that is only
along the perimeter of the mine where it has not been disturbed
by past industrial activities .
The Soils Map shows the areas discussed in the following text .
The mine has been mostly disturbed by mining or industrial
activities in the past . On the western 17 . 36 acres is an old
Concrete Batching area that has little or not soil or native
vegetation on it . Since most of the Plant Site area will remain
unmined and industrial area or lake when mining ends, we will
have only a limited amount of reclamation required on the north
side of the mining area . For this reason, we will use the
vegetation background information in the NRCS data for comparison
when establishing reclamation success where needed. Because of
the soil limitation we estimate that the revegetated area will be
capable of producing from 200 to 400 lbs per acre or have a
ground cover from 25 to 400 . The Mined Land Reclamation Board
approved the seed mix shown in EXHIBIT E-RECLAMATION PLAN was prepared by
the SCS in 1977 for use around the lake area and has been suc-
cessfully used on the south shore of the old lake .
56
