Amendment 11 Conditional Approval item—TR93—CR82 Guardrail Proiect
Dear Mr. Russell:
Newmont Mining Company's Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mining Company (CC&V) hereby submits
the requested Technical Revision (TR) 93 proposing the installation of a guardrail along County Road
(CR) 82 to satisfy the Amendment 11 Conditional Approval item.
Background:
CC&V received bids to complete the road realignment work as designated by HDR to address
Amendment 11 conditional approval item specifying regrading of the Right-Of-Way (ROW) on CR82
north of the Grassy Valley Overlook near the WHEX Pit. In addition CC&V applied for a ROW use
permit with Teller County which is in process.
Due to costs CC&V will incur as well as the rebuilding of well-established high profile reclamation in the
CR82 ROW corridor, CC&V requested an extension to examine alternate means of protecting the public
from potential roadside hazards with a potential guardrail installation. On June 27, 2017 CC&V
requested a 31-day extension to obtain quotes for guardrail installation from June 30, 2017 to July 31,
2017. CC&V also requested an additional 30-day extension from July 31, 2017 to August 30, 2017 to
complete the work as required to fulfill Amendment 11 conditional approval requirements. The Division
of Reclamation Mining and Safety(DRMS)approved this extension on July 6,2017.
Guardrail Design:
CC&V received a quote and design from TEZAK Heavy Equipment (TEZAK) on July 27, 2017. Please
see Attachment 1 showing TEZAK's design for approximately 1,100 feet of Type 3 guardrail per CDOT
design requirements.
Schedule:
The Guardrail Project is proposed to begin in August 2017 and be completed by mid-October 2017.
