Final Compensatory Mitigation and Monitoring Plan—Version 2.0
Climax Mine Overburden Storage Facility Expansion (SPK-2013-00045)
March 2017 Bikis Water Consultants, a division of SGM Page 27
2. Incorporate the entire mitigation site into the current Climax reclamation performance
bonds held by DRMS. Climax is currently bonded for $78MM with DRMS to cover the
third-party cost to complete mine site reclamation. Climax could incorporate the specific
technical construction and monitoring requirements of the Lake Irwin site into the mine
reclamation plan as a Technical Revision to the Climax Reclamation Permit. Once
approved by DRMS, the mitigation site would fall under the reclamation performance
bond held by DRMS. This financial assurance mechanism was used for the wetland
mitigation site constructed for the Climax Property Discharge Water Treatment Plant
NWP39 (Corps permit file SPK-2011-00907). A copy of the DRMS letter incorporating
the mitigation site into the permit and providing financial assurance is in Appendix F.
16.0 REFERENCES
Bikis Water Consultants, LLC.
