Introduction
The Tri County Gravel pit is located approximately 1.5 miles east of Hotchkiss, CO in Delta
County. The Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety granted Tri County gravel a 112
construction materials permit in 1977 for the purpose of mining gravel from property owned by
Curry. The initial permit covered an area of 9.5 acres with only about 2 acres of mining area. In
2000, Tri County Gravel gained an amendment to the existing permit which allowed the mining of
an additional 115 acres on the Curry property. This total area of 141.13 acres is the permitted area
for the Tri County Gravel pit, as of September 2007. In 2007 the majority of the in -stream portion
of the mine site, 31.2 acres, was released from the permitted acreage. This left a total of 109.93
acres permitted.
This amendment will add 82.17 acres to the existing 109.93 acre permit area for a total permit area
of 192.10 acres.
Tri County Pit Sept 2016 i-1
