Western Small Miners Association
P. 0. Box 644
i TO RE A-VINIk 'Naturita. CO 81422
To the surprise of WSMA, many people are not aware of the Colorado contributions to the work of
Madame Currie and the development of x-rays. Even fewer people are aware that of the few thousand
minerals (-4,000 in total) ever known by man to exist, there have been multiple new minerals discovered
in Uravan mines in the past ten years. What technological, medical or scientific progress these new
minerals will enable remains to be seen as these minerals are understood, tested and researched. It is
worthy to note that the mineral perovskite, discovered in 1839 in Russia, is now being pursued as material
for a less expensive, more efficient solar cell, nearly two centuries since discovery.
In summary, for all the reasons stated above and more,WSMA believes mining remains an important part
of Colorado's future. WSMA appreciates the consideration by the MLRB of these comments. We would
be happy to discuss this matter further or help in anyway MLRB seems fit. Please feel to contact Mr.John
Reams, WSMA President, at 970 865-2886 or john@reams-construction.com.
Sincerely,
John Reams
President
Western Small Miners Association
Enclosure: extract of C.R.S. 34-32-102
