The Bear Mine permit was revoked on 6/6/2013. The weather was clear, sunny and hot, and had been
for the early part of the summer.

HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
The North Fork of the Gunnison had dropped considerably since the previous inspection and was flowing
at around 400-500 cfs (approximately the seasonal average).
Water was continuing to flow from the seep, and the sinuous channel was wet, with some small puddles
along its length and a larger puddle at the western end.
A small amount of ponded water was evident in the depression left by the old sediment pond.

REVEGETATION – Rule 4.15
Vegetative Cover; Timing:
The revegetated area was dramatically different from May/June, as the fast growing opportunistic annuals
had completely dried up leaving the ground quite bare – this is as expected in the first year following reclamation.
At the end of May, Cottonwood saplings were planted by McCollum Excavating, LLC, under the
supervision of Andy Herb of AlpineEco.
Cade Pickering of Wilderness Weeds, Inc. was on site to spray Kochia (Kochia scoparia) in mid-June, and
will be asked to treat the Tamarisk Tamarisk (Tamarix chinensis, T. parviflora, and T. ramosissima) below the
seep.

SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12:
Early in the morning smoke/steam was visible coming from the vent on the hillside above the slide area,
