Colorado Quarries, Inc.
270 S. 15" St.
Canon City, CO 81212 RECEIVED
July 10, 2017
t4JUL 13 2017
Mr. Elliott Russell MWON OF RECLAMATION
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety MHN,ANp,WETY
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Red Jasper Granite Quarry, Permit M-1982-200, Corrective Action to Problem#3
(Inspection date April 19, 2017), Request for Extension of Corrective Action Date.
Dear Mr. Russell,
In regards to Problem #3 described in your most recent inspection report of the above-
named permit, under the topic of"General Mine Plan Compliance," we have found we
need additional time to prepare and submit the required corrective action. The corrective
action preferred is to submit an amendment to the 11 Oc permit to increase the permitted
area to more clearly encompass all existing disturbances, and update the mining plan.
However, we cannot complete and submit to you the required amendment by the
corrective action date: July 11, 2017.
The required corrective action specifies that an amendment must be submitted by July 11,
2017. We have begun preparing the amendment materials, but would like to request that
the deadline be extended by 45 days, that is, until August 25, 2017. This will allow
sufficient time to complete the exhibits, and to post notice and place the materials for
public review.
As you know, we have corrected the other problems noted in your recent inspection
report, and this is the last outstanding action to complete. We appreciate your
understanding in this matter, and look forward to your approval to this request.
Sincerel ,
Ole Krauth
Secretary/Treasurer-Colorado Quarries Inc
Cc: Wallace Erickson, DRMS (via email)
