2.04.7 Hydrology Description
East Salt Creek is monitored quarterly by the Applicant. Please refer to
the McClane Canyon Mine annual reclamation reports.
At the East Salt Creek upstream monitoring station, SW -01, for the period
of record fourth quarter 2007 to the fourth quarter of 2011, field
conductivity measurements vary between 3,300 umhos/cm and 4,400 with
an average of 3,767 umhos/cm, with two years being 'dry' and not
available for monitoring. Total dissolved solids vary from 2,310 to 3,358
with an average of 2,767 mg/I, with two years being 'dry' and not available.
Total manganese and total iron are both low although total iron during the
first quarter 2008 was 6.7 mg/I.
At the East Salt Creek downstream monitoring station, SW -08, for the
period of record fourth quarter 2007 to the first quarter of 2011, field
conductivity measurements vary between 3,900 umhos/cm and 4,500 with
an average of 4,267 umhos/cm with two years being 'dry' and not
available for monitoring. Total dissolved solids vary from 2,436 to 3,518
with an average of 2,935 mg/I with two years being 'dry' and not available
for monitoring. Total manganese and total iron are both low.
The Applicant has taken three samples of flow from Munger Canyon. The
samples were obtained during the 1St and 4th quarters of 2004 and the 1St
quarter of 2005. The pH ranged from 8.1 to 8.9 su and the conductivity
ranged from 661 to 1,880 umhos/cm. Total suspended solids were high
as is expected of the flow from ephemeral channels. Iron content ranged
from 0.56 to 232.8 mg/I and manganese ranged from 0.014 to 2.62 mg/I.
Flow and quality information from the three East Salt Creek monitoring
stations (SW -01, SW -02, and SW -08) are presented in Table 4-2iii
Surface Water Operational Data.
Springs Within Permit and Adjacent Area
There are no known springs within the permit and adjacent area.
PR -02 2.04-25 03/13
