CThreatened and.Endangered Species •
The "Illustrated Guide to Proposed Threatened and Endangered
Plant Species in Colorado" (USDI Fish and Wildlife Service, 1978) was
reviewed to determine if any threatened or endangered species were
encountered on the Allen Mine permit area. No such species were
found while sampling or surveying the area for species composition.
Other Comments
The current "grassland" type that occurs between the
Purgatoire River and Highway 12 at the Allen Mine has been drastically
disturbed. The State Department of Highways used this area for
obtaining roadbed materials. The area was subsequently reseeded to
crested wheatgrass. Because of this disturbance, no true grassland
currently exists at the Allen Mine. The grassland reference area at
the Maxwell Mine will be used for reclamation planning and comparisons
at the Allen Mine.
L
16
