To avoid ovez- <br />irrigation and leaching of plant nutrients, applications of irrigation <br />eater should be adjusted to [he available eater capacity, the valet intake <br />rate, and the crop needs. Proper stocking rates, pasture rotation, and <br />restricted grazing during vet periods helps [o keep the pasture in good <br />condition and to protect the soil from erosion. Use of nitrogen and <br />..phosphorus fertilizer promotes good growth of forage plants. If properly <br />managed, this unit can produce 4 tons of irrigated grass hay per acre. <br />This unit is yell suited to windbreaks and environmental plantings. <br />Supplemental irrigation may be needed when planting and during dry periods. <br />.~ Amond the trees that are suitable for planting are Russian olive, cotton- <br />wood, and golden willow.
