It <br />formed in colluvium and alluvium derived dominantly from sedimentary <br />rock. Slope is 0 to 2 percent. The native vegetation ie mainly grass. <br />Elevation ie 6,200 to 7,800 feet. The average annual precipitation is <br />15 to 22 incfies, the average annual air temperature is 47 Co 51 degrees <br />F., and the average frost-free season is 90 [0 140 days. <br />i <br />Typically the surface layer is loam 6, inch es thick. The subsoil is <br />~ clay loam 19 inches thick. The substratum [o a depth of 60 inches is <br />loam. The soil is neutral to a depth of 25 inches and moderately alkaline <br />i and calcareous below chat'depth. <br />I <br />Included in this unit is 10 percent Fort Collins loam on foot slopes. <br />J Fort Collins soils lack a dark surface layer. Also included are small <br />areas of soils with-a eater table above 4 feet. <br />The permeability of this Table Mountain soil is moderate. Available <br />water capacity is high. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more. <br />Runoff is sloe and the hazard of eater erosion is slight. <br />This unit is used for rangeland and irrigated hay and pasture. <br />The potential plant community is mainly western vhea[grass, blue <br />grams. and Sunegrass. Other less numerous plants that characterize this <br />unit are native bluegrass, green needlegrass, and little blues tem. The <br />average annual production of air-dry vegetation is about 1300 pounds per <br />acre. If the condition of the range deteriorates, sleepyg.rass, ring <br />• ~~ mutely, cholla, and tall rabbitbrush increase. <br />
