PERMIT #: M-2002-110
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: SJM
INSPECTION DATE: June 13, 2017
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety's (Division) normal
monitoring program. Jason Burkey representing the Operator, was present during this inspection.
Photographs are included at the end of this report in order to illustrate some of the conditions observed
during this inspection.
The 19 Road Pit located approximately 2 miles southeast of Fruita, Colorado in Mesa County. The site is a
110c operation that includes a total of 9.75 permitted acres. The Division currently holds a financial warranty
amount of $49,157.00 for this site. The Division has reviewed the Financial Warranty and it is sufficient at this
time.
Adequate mine identification signage was noted at the entrance to the site. The affected area was adequately
marked with fencing delineating the area. No Fuel or equipment were stored on site.
Mining was not taking place during this inspection. The site is in final reclamation. The landowners have
moved horses into the eastern portion of the permit area. The Division is requiring the Operator to submit a
Technical Revision to include the 1.57 acres of the permit area originally permitted to be dry Rangeland to
include a horse corral. This is noted as a problem at the beginning of this inspection report. There is no need
to change the post mining land use at this time because the remaining acreage is a lake and wetlands and
meets the Reclamation Plan approved by the Division. Some more wetland seed may need to be applied to
achieve adequate vegetation on the side slopes of the lake.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Stephanie Mitchell at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado
81501, phone number (970) 242-5025.
