There are eight livestock ponds located within the NHN permit area. The total area of the Ponds
vegetation type as shown on Map 2.04.10-1, is 1.03 acres and this type equals 0.32 percent of the
mine permit area.
IRRIGATION DITCH
This vegetation type corresponds to the Second Park Lateral Ditch which enters the site near the
southeastern portion of the Meehan property and exits the area on the western side of the Garvey
property. Given the duration and rate of flowing water, this large ditch is devoid of vegetation
and can more correctly be considered to be a canal. All other smaller lateral ditches on the site
have the water moved with sufficient regularity that they are mostly dominated by plants.
The total area of the Irrigation Ditch vegetation type as shown on Map 2.04.10-1, is 0.46 acres
and this type equals 0.14 percent of the NHN permit area.
DRAINAGE CHANNEL
This vegetation type exists in those areas where irrigation tailwaters flowing from up slope fields
collects in the bottoms of swales and draws to form stream channels. This designation
corresponds to those areas covered by the Corps regulations for sites possessing an ordinary high
water mark (OHWM). According to their regulations, areas possessing an OHWM possess
flowing waters for sufficient duration to render them devoid of vegetation either through the
processes of physical eradication or by flooding out the vegetation. Within the NHN permit area,
there are two areas, one in the bottom of Meehan Draw and the other in the bottom of the
unnamed draw which flows across the southeast portion of the site which possesses these
characteristics.
The total area of the Drainage Channel vegetation type as shown on Map 2.04.10-1, is 0.07 acres
and this type accounts for 0.22 percent of the mine permit area.
Section 2.04. 10 Page 27 of 36 June 2016 (TR -14)
