June 14, 2017 C-1981-018/Deserado Mine JDM <br /> <br /> <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 8 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4 <br /> <br /> Page 6 of 8 <br /> <br /> Dead Dog Fire Burn Areas <br /> <br />PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES – Rule 4.10 and 4.11 Drainage Control; Surface <br />Stabilization; Placement: <br /> <br />Refuse Pile - 2/3/4 refuse was in the process of being spread and compacted at the time of the inspection with the <br />large stockpile being substantially reduced. Grading allowed good run-off to ponds. <br />Refuse Pile - 5 was well compacted and stable at the time of the inspection. Both sites showed good run-off to the <br />ponds via the collection ditches with no rills or gullies identified on the out slopes of the piles. <br /> <br />ROADS – Rule 4.03 Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3) Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) Surfacing and <br />Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6) Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br /> <br />The CR65 was closed to the general public with only mine related personnel and firefighting personnel approved <br />for access. The Deserado Mine road is well maintained and in good condition. The haul road from the facilities <br />area to the refuse disposal area was wet from recent dust suppression and stable with no problems noted. The <br />conveyor corridor road, access roads and light-use roads were in good condition with no problems noted. <br />Evidence of dust suppression was noted on the refuse haul road at the time of the inspection. <br /> <br />TOPSOIL – Rule 4.06 Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3; <br />Redistribution 4.06.4: <br /> <br />Topsoil piles throughout the site were stable and well protected, with the exception of the topsoil pile at RS-12L. <br /> <br />- Due to the Dead Dog Fire, the vegetation cover of the topsoil pile at RS-12L was burned.
