PERMIT#: M-2008-082
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE:June 15,2017
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS for the Morton Lakes 112c sand and
gravel site. DRMS representatives Lucas West and Russ Means also attended this inspection to observe the
installation process for the Stage 4 slurry wall that is currently underway. DRMS met with RMCC
representative Joe Lamanna, and Hall Irwin representative Jon McElwan at the site office at approximately
0830. After a brief site orientation meeting, the tour proceeded to the new conveyor bridge over the Platte
River, and then to the Stage 4 slurry wall installation.
Representative photos of the slurry wall installation for Stage 4 taken during a May 2017 inspection have been
included with this report.
Activity at the site is proceeding as approved by Morton Lakes AM01. Stage 3 is has been stripped of topsoil
and overburden and is currently being dewatered in preparation for mining in the next few weeks. The Stage
4 slurry wall construction is proceeding and should be completed in the next several weeks (Photos 1-5). The
slurry wall construction was taking place near the southeast corner of Stage 4 at the time of this inspection.
The northern portion of Stage 6 is being mined as was approved under TR4.
The only issue noted during this inspection was the presence of some noxious weeds in disturbed areas. This
issue was previously cited in a 2016 inspection. Weed control measures will need to be maintained at this site
to eliminate or control undesirable species such as cheat-grass, thistle, and bindweed that will rapidly
establish in disturbed areas and impede reclamation. DRMS left the site at approximately 1030.
Inspection Contact Address
Joe Lamanna
Ready Mixed Concrete Company
11778 Highway 52
Fort Lupton, CO 80621
