Mr.Jeff Gregg RMIC
June 20, 2000
Page 2
STRUCTURES WITHIN 200 FEET OF DISTURBED AREAS
The proposed mine site is in an agricultural area with relatively few above-ground structures. In
general, the mine plan, as designed, provides a buffer of at least 200 feet between the mined areas and
above-ground structures around the perimeter of the mine permit area. Other structures in the interior
of the mine permit area are within 200 feet of mined areas, but are still protected by setbacks. These
setbacks include 75 feet from oil wells, 25 feet from buried gas collector lines, and 25 feet from
irrigation ditches. In our opinion, these setbacks will protect these particular structures in the interior of
the mine permit area. However, an irrigation lateral and buried irrigation line are present within the
mine cell on the Roberts property, and will be removed under the current mine plan. It water flow is to
be maintained, these particular irrigation structures can be reconstructed around the perimeter of the
mine.
Other known man-made structures within 200 feet of mined areas include:
► Several irrigation laterals;
► Farm and oil well access roads;
► Oil field tank batteries, separators, and related structures;
► The August and Betty Brown residence along with several farm buildings;
► Weld County Road 64%z;
► Buried utilities under Weld County Road 64'/z;
► Grain silos south of the Tigges residence; and
► A house and some farm buildings at the Marie Etter property.
In our opinion, gravel mining related disturbances, and subsequent reclamation activities should not
impact these structures. As of this writing, buried utility lines, including gas collector lines, near the
proposed mine are only approximately located. Prior to mining, subsurface utilities should be better
located and care should be practiced when mining near buried utilities.
LIMITATIONS
Our review is based on review of exploratory boring data and review of present mining plans. Should
the mining area or other aspects of the mine plan change, we should be contacted in order to re-
evaluate the potential effects of mining on man-made structures.
Please call with any questions or comments.
Sincerely,
ROCK MOUNTAIN CONSULTANTS, INC.
A la
Gary Linden, R.G.
Engineering Geologist
GL:sp
H.\0636 055\Construction.Iir.wpd
