Compliance With Mine Plan N - Support Facilities Not On-site <br /> N -Other N - Special Categories Of Mining <br /> N -Processing Waste N -Topsoil <br /> COMMENTS <br /> This was a partial inspection conducted by Janet Binns of CDRMS.Frank Ferris of Elk Ridge Mining represented <br /> the operator and accompanied the inspection. The weather was clear and dry, clouding up in the afternoon with <br /> rain showers moving into the valley. <br /> The focus of this inspection was observation of vegetation sampling crews on dryland pasture and irrigated pasture <br /> reclaimed areas. <br /> FISH and WILDLIFE—Rule 4.18: <br /> A collared lizard was observed at the dryland pasture reference area, and several small lined lizards were <br /> seen scampering around at the dryland reference area. <br /> RECLAMATION SUCCESS -Rule 4.15,Rule 3: <br /> The dominant species noted on the irrigated pasture reference area were predominately alfalfa and smooth <br /> brome. Noxious species were not a concern in this pasture. <br /> Predominate species observed on the reclaimed dryland pasture included Russian wildrye, crested wheatgrass, and <br /> prostrate kochia. Some red-stem filaree was present but it did not appear in excessive amounts. Scarlet <br /> globemallow and rubber rabbit brush were also noted in the reclaimed dryland pasture. A few Russian thistle were <br /> present but not in excessive amounts. <br /> Species noted in the irrigated pasture were dominated by mountain brome, alfalfa, and orchardgrass. This stand <br /> appeared very healthy. Some field bindweed,plantain and dandelion were present but not in excessive amounts. <br /> The dryland pasture reference area is dominated by native species. This site is undisturbed and is composed of <br /> older sagebrush,well established blue grama bunches,Needle and thread grass,three-awn grass,prickly pear and <br /> hedgehog cacti, galleta grass, scarlet globemallow,broom snakeweed,Juniper, and an occasional Pinyon pine. <br /> There is also cryptogrammic (biologic) soils and lichen.
