This well will be drilled in late 2017 or early 2018. The 12H-IR will intersect the current
12H mining interval from the west and utilize the existing 12H-R well for brine recovery. NS will
also retain the ability to inject from the existing 121-1-1 well and use the 121-1-IR as a recovery well
as sodium bicarbonate production dictates. A 9.625" diameter intermediate casing will be
installed in order to facilitate recovery pump installation when necessary. The preexisting NS
DS-3 ground water monitor well will be utilized as the subsurface subsidence monitor well
(SSMW) for the 12H-IR well. The DS-3 penetrates the R-6 confining interval and is proximal to
the planned well bore path.
Please find attached:
• Aerial and topographic maps indicating proposed SSMW location and the mile the Area of
Review (AOR)
• Completed 7520-6 form
• Completed 7520-14 form
• Comprehensive list of the AOR Wells
• Well completion diagrams for the proposed injection and recovery well
• Well Plug and Abandonment diagram
Well completion information and diagrams for all existing wells in the AOR remain unchanged
and have been previously submitted to the EPA on multiple occasions. All wells in the AOR
have been properly sealed, completed, or plugged and abandoned. NS would appreciate any
efforts to expedite the approval process for this Class III solution mining well.
Should you have any questions or comments, please contact me at (970) 254-1224 or
(970) 216-1010 (c), or Kirk Daehling at(888) 464-7632 x114.
