Therefore, exposure of ground
water must not occur during or after mining operations.
® The proposed operation will consume ground water by: ® evaporation, ❑ dust control, ❑
reclamation, ® water removed in the mined product, ❑ processing, ❑ other:
Prior to initiation of these uses of ground water, the operator will need to obtain either a gravel pit or
other type of well permit, as applicable. However, prior to obtaining a permit, an approved substitute
water supply plan or decreed plan for augmentation is required.
® Any storm water runoff intercepted by this operation that is not diverted or captured in priority must
infiltrate into the ground or be released to the stream system within 72 hours. The primary commodities mined at the site are sand, gravel, top soil, and general fill. The
subject application seeks to add 19.4 acres (known as the "Lee Parcel") to the currently permitted 33 acres,
for a total of 52.7 acres within the permit area. The site is proposed to be reclaimed to its current use of
pastureland upon completion of mining operations.
Mining operations at the Lee Parcel were included in the Poudre Pits Aggregate Mine Substitute Water Supply
Plan approved by the State Engineer on January 24, 2017. The subject substitute water supply plan is currently
valid through December 31, 2017. Well permit no. 78235-F has been obtained for the North La Poudre Pit.
If stormwater runoff is intercepted by this operation and is not diverted or captured in priority, it must be
released to the stream system within 72 hours; otherwise the operator will need to make replacements for
evaporation.
So long as mining operations are conducted in accordance with the approved substitute water supply plan and
well permit for this site, this office has no objection to the proposed amendment. The applicant may contact
the State Engineer's Office with any questions.
1313 Sherman Street, Room 821, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3581 www.water.s,tate.co.us
!T
'1876
