1985% SOUTH BROADWAY
DAUB & ASSOCIATES, INC. GRAND JUNCTION,CO 81507-9649
(970)254-1224
FAX 970 email: 91daub@daubandassociates.com
www.daubandassociates.com
May 18, 2017
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
Attn: Minerals Division
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Natural Soda LLC Nahcolite Project Permit No. M-1983-194 Amendment 04:
Permit Area Increase, Addition of Seven New Production Wells, 16 Inch
Production Pipelines, and Parking Area
Natural Soda LLC (NS), hereby submits this 112d(3) Permit Amendment package by
request of the DRMS. Amendment 04 increases NS's permit area to approximately
12,248 acres from 8,379, more or less. The increase in acreage is a '/ mile
perimeter around the lease boundaries. This perimeter was added to allow NS to
drill off-lease production well surface locations so they may fully develop the
nahcolite resource within the Federal Sodium Lease boundary. NS has been drilling
off-lease since the early 1990's with BLM and EPA approval.
Additionally, NS is adding seven new wells with this amendment. The 12H-IR,
401 H-1, 401 H-R (options 1 and 2 for both 401 wells), 4021-1-1 402H-R, 4031-1-1, and
403H-R. The surface location for these wells will be located on pre-existing
disturbed ground, some of which has been interim reclaimed and will require top soil
removal and some minor grading. The 12H-IR will be located on the NS 1-3A/2B-3C
pad, the 401 H (Option 1), 402H, and 403H well pairs will be located on a Terra
Energy Partners pad, and the 401 H (Option 2) is on the NS 71-1-1 V pad.
NS is adding two new 16 inch insulated carbon steel production pipelines. These
pipelines will extend approximately 4,170 feet from the NS plant southward to the
vicinity of the 15H-SSMW well, southwest of the plant. These lines will be insulated
and laid on the ground. The 16 inch barren (well supply) line will be installed in
2017, and the pregnant (returns to plant) pipeline will be installed in 2018.
NS will grade a small area south of the plant to accommodate employee parking that
is 62 feet by 94 feet in size. This parking area will be in the vicinity of the 89 well
pad, immediately south of the NS plant.
SPECIALIZING IN PROFESSIONAL GEOLOGICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, HYDROLOGICAL, GEOTECHNICAL AND PERMITTING SERVICES
