GEOTECHNICAL STABILITY EXHIBIT
There are no permanent structures near the waste rock landform(WRL),which is the only constructed
slope of concern for geotechnical stability. The permanent condition of the slopes will be installed
3H:1 V slopes(18.4'). During mining, the maximum slope of the waste rock will be 1.5H:1 V.
1. Factor of Safety Evaluation
To evaluate the FoS for both the active mine WRL and the reclaimed WRL conditions, GALENA
slope stability software was loaded with the material and slope characteristics of both the WRL and
the underlying native ground. The water table is near the vertical level of Buckskin Gulch, well
below the elevation of the WRL.
Native ground was assumed to be Glacial till, mixed grain size, with its properties taken from the
SME Mining Reference Handbook, Table 2.5. The same for the WRL material, which is Blasted
granite.
Material Unite Weight(lb/ft3) Friction Cohesion(lb/ft2)
angle
Eta"0,weed grin ske IM 37 3000
Blasted granite 110 45 0
The GALENA figures for each analysis, and the analysis data output, are attached to this exhibit.
Detroit City Mine February 2017 GS-1
