The reclaimed haul road <br />has established excellent vegetation, with no signs of erosional features in this steep environment. The surface of <br />the reclaimed road continue to be very rough with numerous pockets and microclimates. Vegetation is well <br />established and is greening up nicely. Species present and growing well include Utah Sweetvetch, Palmer <br />penstamon, Rocky Mountain penstamon, Indian paintbrush, Indian ricegrass, Western wheatgrass, Slender <br />wheatgrass, Sagebrush and Rubber rabbitbrush. This list is not all inclusive. <br /> <br />RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3: <br /> Early season grasses and forbs emerging on the reclaimed topsoil stockpile footprint appear to be winter <br />annual grass (cheatgrass), annual mustards, as well as Whitetop. The Whitetop has been sprayed recently and is <br />exhibiting die-off. Perennial species are present in the reclaimed topsoil stockpile footprint area. Flowering forbs, <br />such as Lewis flax, Rocky mountain penstamon, and showy daisy were blooming. Numerous butterfly species <br />were attracted to the flowering forbs. The mulch remains well anchored. Numerous small shrub species have <br />emerged in this area. The reclaimed portal area remains well vegetated with excellent diversity. No sloughing of <br />the slopes above the reclaimed portals, or gullying of the reclamation was observed. The area held up well to the <br />winter and spring storms. Few noxious species were observed in the portal area. Several very limited patches of <br />Whitetop were encountered just to the north of the portal area. Control of these patches is advised to limit futher <br />spread of this noxious weed. <br />Although no large ungulates were observed during the inspection, numerous areas of deer scat was observed along <br />the reclaimed haul road. Ground squirrels and numerous song birds were observed in Munger Canyon. Coyote <br />scat was noted as well.
